The 2018 National Texel Growvite Championships will take place under the auspices of the NSBA Championships on Saturday 09th June at  renowned indoor venue of Cillín Hill Event Centre Co. Kilkenny.  Univet Ltd are our sponsors for the competition and as always we are very esteemed to have their support. Our event as per usual  is showcased to be the biggest exhibition of Texel Sheep in the Country this year. Exhibitors will travel from all parts of the country to participate in what is regarded as a significant shop window to display their top stock, many of which will go on to feature in the top prices at the Irish Texel Premier Sale on the 10th & 11th of August, at Blessington Livestock Mart.

We are pleased to confirm that the judge for the day will be Mr Henry Gamble of the internationally recognised Springwell Texel Flock, Northern Ireland.  Ten classes will be judged which will culminate in the judge selecting his Supreme Texel Champion 2018. The Supreme Champion will also be awarded the accolade of the Texel RDS Champion of Champions award.  Entry is open to all members of the Society and entry forms are available from info@irishtexel.com

Commercial classes will also feature at this years venue and entries are invited from both pedigree and commercial breeders that have crossbred Texels that will compete on the day. A significant prize fund of €1500 has been sponsored by the IFJ. Classes include Best Factory Lamb, Butchers Lamb, Best Ewe Lamb, Best Shearling Ewe and Best Aged Ewe. We would be striving to see Texels feature strongly at the top of all these line-ups so there is a class on offer to suit all systems of Texel sheep farming. Application forms are available from nsbaireland@gmail.com alternatively  contact 087 3552992 or 086 8620013
