REPORT

At the recent Donegal Texel Breeders Ewe In Lamb sale on November 22nd, at Raphoe Mart here was a huge demand on quality sheep.

Top sale price came from Isobel Moore’s Labbadish flock, IMF12003 carrying 2 lambs to Hillcrest Revolution.

This super ewe was much admired. Her sire Kilcoursey Rolex was bred out of a Hilllsborough dam RE1 10015. After brisk bidding she was knocked down to Hughie Mooney’s Cashel Hill flock for 1420gns. For Isobel continued success in the sales ring.

Next highest price came from the Figart pen of Shane McHugh UJI 12031 daughter of of Speenogue Pierre All Ireland Supreme Champion 2012 out of a home bred dam.

This strong 5star maternal recorded gimmer scanned with 2 lambs in lamb to Figart Tory by Tophill Nockout came under the hammer to breeder Jonathon Higgins from Co. Sligo for 1250gns. Jonathon also purchased another Speenogue Pierre daughter from the Figart pen. Again she was a 5 star maternal recorded ewe and was sold for 680 gns.

The Shannagh flock from Andrew and Richard Wilson enjoyed a good trade for their pen with a top price of 760gns for a Tophill Nockout daughter in-lamb to Sportsman Superstar. Overall clearance was 92% and there was a steady trade for quality Texel ewes.
