Over 170 texels competed in the eleven classes which were judged by David
Houghton, Tophill Flock, England. Texel breeders from Galway, Mayo and Sligo
had the winners of most classes on the day. Co. Meath breeders, Alex and
Ornaith Clarke, took the honours in the first class (2 Shear Ram and Upwards)
with their stock ram Ballydonaghy Kunneyfunt. This ram went on to win the
overall championship and Padraic Niland’s shearling ewe won the reserve award.
